Social problem solving
Social problem-solving involves children's ability to interpret social cues and the feelings of others as they consider ways to reach their own goals. Children develop effective problem-solving strategies to deal with conflicts as they arise in the classroom.
The steps in social problem-solving:
- Notice the social situation, identify feelings and define problem.
- Generate various solutions.
- Agree upon the solution. Negotiate as necessary.
- Implement the solution effectively.
- Evaluate the outcome of the solution.
