Overview
This section includes a module for each of the three ELS domains. After completing each domain's module, you will be able to:

- List the items assessed within that domain.
- Describe the strands to observe and assess for each item in the domain.
- Identify examples of observable behaviors as indicators for each strand.
- Describe observed behaviors in anecdote form sufficient to serve as evidence of developmental growth.
- Assign an ELS score based on the collected evidence.
- Plan instruction to support the next steps in a child's development based on ELS scores.
The ELS is a tool — the more skilled you become in using that tool, the better your results. The more you understand about the ELS, the better you can use this assessment tool to improve your teaching and support the children you teach.
