Your role

For children, science involves discovering and exploring the marvels of the world. Our goals as teachers include fostering children’s sense of wonder, their curiosity, and their growing scientific inquiry skills.

Adults encourage language and cognitive development by being responsive to information-seeking questions and by asking children cognitively challenging questions such as, “What would happen if…?” 

When children are provided with the kinds of science experiences that encourage them to make predictions, to describe and explain results, and to provide reasons for their ideas, their language and science skills are supported.
