Performance-based Assessment

Performance-based assessments capture children's skills and knowledge in real experiences over time. Children's development is episodic, meaning we cannot get an accurate picture of a child with one administration of a test. This matters especially in the preschool setting because young children can change from situation to situation and day to day.

The ELS performance-based system:

This type of approach informs your teaching and can be easily used to communicate with parents or others in a meaningful way about a child's growth and development during the preschool years.
